Being a student is something that most of us would identify with. Each one of us is a student in our own way. At every step in our life we learn something, and get to know some of the best ways we can make our life better. Yet there are cases where the students get overly stressed and make things difficult not only for themselves but also for others. This happens due to various factors and particularly affects the psyche of the students who are so focused on trying to achieve perfection in everything thus leading to a great pressure and inevitably stress.

Stress affects every student whether it is a toddler or a college going teen. Stress is the response that we adopt in facing the circumstances that make us act, adjust or change in a particular way such that everything is balanced against our own will. This is the way the body reacts or adjusts to keep things under control. This is the body’s way of responding to any demand that is made and stress is a way of manifesting the inability to solve any problem while meeting the demand. Stress could be healthy at times for adults who try to learn a lot from the stress they are going through. On the other hand, stress is very damaging to most students and this happens when stress gets out of control. Students’ health is affected so is their performance and their interpersonal relations.

Let us understand how best we could deal with stress and how we could make the world stress free. Children in school get stressed over small things like getting bullied. Then sometimes the children get stressed over a miscommunication with the teacher. Family time is crucial to the child. A child who doesn’t get much time to spend with family is wrapped in insecurity and gets stressed. Sometimes there are too many activities that the child is subjected to. This causes stress. If the student doesn’t get proper sleep then he gets very irritable and gets stressed out. Then there is the stress of lack of preparation that bogs the mind of the students. This too creates a lot of mental tension to the students and the child invariably becomes a stressed individual. Noise pollution and other such factors also affect the child and the student generally unknowingly brings about his own downfall if he subjects himself to loud noise.

Students undergo stress at every level. So whether it is the student going to college or whether it is the student who has to decide which university he has to be in, the crux remains that the student has to understand that he has to learn to adjust to new surroundings. So the main cause of stress during a shift is the lack of time management, the pressure of exams and the fear of being in a competitive world. This is a great cause for stress invariably.

There are various ways students could manage stress. For example if they learn to understand that time is a great factor to reduce stress and if they have a particular study schedule then it is a good way to avoid stress. Break up the time into smaller portions and formulate a pattern of study then it is a good way of breaking up the stress of preparing.

Then the second thing is to have an organized attitude. Note making, keeping memos and following up assignments and other papers also gives the student a chance to understand the importance of work efficiency and thus reduces stress.

Stress can also be reduced by having the right study environment. Either a quite room or a room free of interruptions, or music playing in the background are all ways you can avoid stress.
